iPass Client Quick Start Mac 8.x and 9.x Format
Welcome to iPass
iPassConnect gives users access to the iPass global network of 14,000+ locations in 150 countries via dial-up, ISDN, PHS and high speed broadband connections.
Users simply specify the access type and location from the intuitive user interface, and select a local connection point. Furthermore, end users and help desks alike will appreciate the common iPassConnect user interface across all computing platforms, reducing the need for training and support.
Prerequisites
- Mac OS system 9.2, 9.1, 9.04 or 8.6 (OS X here)
- 32 Mb RAM
- 10 Mb free disk space
- Open Transport OT/PPP version 2.6 or later
- A properly installed/configured modem
Installing the iPass Client

Click Here to download the iPass client (MAC-iPass.hqx 2.86MB) to a temporary directory.

Go to the temporary directory and double-click MAC-iPass and follow the onscreen instructions.

Fill in your username and password by clicking Options > User Info from the iPass menu bar. You may save your password by selecting the save password option.

If your telephone connection requires you to dial a number for an outside line. This can be entered by clicking on Options > Dial Properties.

You are now ready to connect to the iPass Network.
Connecting to the iPass Network
- Click on the modem or ISDN tab depending on your hardware.

Select your current location from the Country, State and City drop down menu's, and area code if applicable.

A list of appropriate cities and numbers will now be displayed along with the connection costs* per hour in GBP charged to your credit card on a monthly basis.
* Please note connection costs are not available with the current iPass client, your system will be updated automatically by iPass when connection costs are included in the client software.

Select the connection you wish to use and click connect.
NOTES: The first time you connect you will automatically download a phone book. This is an update from iPass which installs new telephone numbers and updates to your client software (this update occurs on a regular basis).
Please be aware that on occasion phone lines to your selected connection may be full or undergoing maintenance. We have no control over this, you should select an alternative connection from the list or wait for a line to become free.

Once connected you are free to use the internet in a standard fashion.
